NIPR institutes Annual PRICE Awards, fixes 7th December for the ceremony

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has introduced an annual awards platform known as the Public Relations, Reputation, Ideas, Concepts and Excellence (PRICE) Awards and Prizes, designed to further strengthen the administration, professionalism, and regulation of public relations practice in Nigeria.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the NIPR Annual PRICE Awards and Prizes 2025. According to the statement, the PRICE Awards will serve as the Institute’s premier system for evaluating, recognising, and celebrating exceptional campaigns, initiatives, practitioners, and thought leaders in Nigeria’s public relations space.

The maiden edition of the Awards is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The award system is envisioned as a credible and enduring platform that will identify and honour individuals and organizations whose work continues to shape communication and reputation management across sectors. The initiative reached a milestone in September 2025, when Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of the NIPR Council, formally inaugurated a 12-member committee to organize the first edition. This followed the approval of a technical team report by the Council.

While inaugurating the committee, Dr. Neliaku explained that the Awards are intended to position Nigeria on the global stage through a world-class recognition system.

“We have selected you to help establish an award that reflects prestige, credibility and excellence. Nigeria deserves its own internationally respected public relations awards system,” he said.
He encouraged the committee to engage stakeholders, secure partnerships, and deliver an event of high standard and impact.

The NIPR President expressed confidence that the PRICE Awards will inspire practitioners, enhance professional visibility, and reinforce Nigeria’s relevance in the global public relations community.

In his acceptance remarks, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Israel Jaiye Opayemi, Managing Director/Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Africa, pledged the committee’s commitment to deliver a best-in-class award experience.

“Nigeria’s PR professionals have excelled globally; now it is time to celebrate our excellence at home,” he stated.

Members of the Organizing Committee include seasoned PR experts and scholars such as: Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan (Vice Chairman), Dr. Mary Ikoku, Edemekong Uyoh, Adesola Oyawoye, Odoh Diego Okenyodo, Damilola Olujide, Beatrice Okpara, Prince M.G. Duku, Chief Patrick Ukah, Mrs. Chidinma Awak (Secretary), and Kater Amos Foga (Assistant Secretary).

The PRICE Awards will honour achievements across the spectrum of public relations practice—highlighting strategic communications, innovation, creativity, measurable impact, and excellence. Rising talents, including students and young professionals, will also be recognized with cash prizes and plaques to emphasize NIPR’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in the industry.

Established in 1963 and chartered in 1990 by law (CAP N114 LFN 2004), the NIPR is authorized to register practitioners, set standards of knowledge, and regulate public relations practice in Nigeria. It remains one of the country’s most active and influential professional bodies and is a leading member of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) and the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.

Notably, the NIPR recently secured the hosting rights for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 and the APRA Annual Conference 2026, scheduled to hold concurrently from November 15–21, 2026.
